Press releases: New ways in cities and minds
The Berlin rope play specialists from Corocord have reinterpreted the urban trend sport parkour from France: the Corocord Climbing Parkour course consists of eight elements which are combined to form a perfect stage for playful obstacle runs.
Parkour is an elegant mix of jumping, running and somersaults, across all obstacles. The traceur goes on a trip right through the city, equipped only with the strength of his body.
However, instead of concrete walls and steel railings, as they are found in the public space, Corocord offers innovative rope play units which the specialists in our Berlin rope net manufactory have developed completely from scratch. The individual basic elements are each six metres long and can be combined with one another, but also with other Corocord rope nets, to form individual playscapes.
Children and adolescents probe their strength, coordination and physical stamina on components that range from Crossed Ladder and Swaying Bridge to Climbing Ramp and Swaying Seesaw. Such elements as Tensegrity and Rope Slalom, Rope Screw and Flying Carpet also challenge the imagination and spatial thinking: the point of the adventure Climbing Parkour is to discover elegant and sophisticated paths through the filigree structures, which are made of 19 millimetre thick ropes as well as other elements, such as membranes, wood and aluminium profiles.
Every successfully mastered obstacle is also an invitation to accept the next challenge: the Climbing Parkour course entices the players to keep finding new routes and try them out in the maze of ropes. The degree of difficulty automatically increases with the demands the young climbing artists place on themselves.
Parkour does not only mean finding new paths in space but also in one’s own imagination. This applies to the traceurs in the jungle of the city and, just as much, to the children and adolescents in the Corocord Climbing Parkour. And so these rope play elements combine a tremendous new joy of playing with the tried and proven safety of the products from our spacenet manufactory in Berlin as well as the fascination with the skills of the genuine parkour runners.
