Vandalism pointless: Rope play equipment can be played on again after vandalism attack

For the Regional Garden Show in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, the Spacenet Inventors at Corocord designed an impressive piece of rope play equipment in 1987/88: the Super Three Mast Spacenet Combination. The climbing net with its high masts of up to 12 metres is an attraction for young and old at the extensive garden show site, now called 'Flora Westfalica'.

On the night of 20^th May 2009, the net structure of ropes and membranes was the victim of a wanton and senseless act of vandalism. This led to the central element of the equipment being so badly affected that the whole Spacenet structure had to be closed to playing. The repair was never questioned by Flora Westfalica, despite the age of the equipment, as the great play value of the Spacenet from our Berlin Spacenet manufacture makes it a unique and irreplaceable piece of play equipment.

When it comes to customer service, the rope specialists at Corocord are hard to beat. On the Monday before the Corpus Christi bank holiday, the three-man maintenance team, supported by a heavy-duty crane, began work. The promise by Wolfgang Ebert, the long-serving production manager at Corocord, that the climbing equipment would be open again ready for the family holidays at the long weekend was, of course, kept to.

The repair work was a matter "close to the heart" for Wolfgang Ebert, as he was involved already 22 years ago with the original construction of the Spacenet. And he tells us why repairs can often be carried out relatively effortlessly: "The clear geometric structure of the Spacenet consists of lots of rope rings interconnected with each other. It suffices often, therefore, just to replace individual rope rings. In this case, admittedly, there was a little more to do…" Thus our equipment can be repaired with no problems, even after over 20 years of intensive use. And once again the Spacenet Inventors demonstrate their huge experience over many years and it is clear that the high quality of Corocord products pays for itself.
