Press releases: Net playground opened in Bschütt Park in Passau – a Corocord attraction for young and old

On 27 July, Lord Mayor Jürgen Dupper opened the newly erected net playground in the Bschütt area in Passau. In designing this 37 x 18-metre area, landscape architect Peter Kitzmüller relied on the combination of a Corocord Giant Spacenet with a Corocord Rope Parkour. The top of the 9.30-metre high Spacenet can be seen well beyond the boundaries of the park, thus attracting climbing enthusiasts to the new meeting place in the centre of the leisure and recreation park. Until now, there has been nothing comparable in scale to this in Passau: an attractive play landscape for children aged 5 and over, with lots of stimulus for climbing and exploring.

A specially-trained team of four assembled this complex structure in just two days using a truck crane. The Rope Parkour in yellow, over 33 metres in length, crosses the dark-blue Giant Spacenet, thus causing the two items of rope play equipment to visually form a single unit. The steel posts, painted in various tones of brown, fit organically into the green, tree-filled environment. In this way, the new net playground forms a harmonious addition to the overall image of the leisure park with its facilities for Kneipp cures, playgrounds and various open spaces and sunbathing areas.

The heart of the climbing-net landscape, the Giant Spacenet, is a true Corocord classic, which is still produced today from the original construction plans of the company founder, Conrad Roland. Produced in tried-and-tested quality, according to the newest technical standards in our Berlin Spacenet manufacture, the modern Giant Spacenet meets the high requirements of landscape and urban planners. And with its precisely-tailored additions, in this case including a Pendulum Seat, a Slide with a Rope Net Bridge and the connected Rope Parkour, this versatile construction is an invitation to climb, slide, balance, move hand over hand, swing and bob up and down.

Small and large movement artistes can really let off steam here, and at the same time meet their limitations in a playful manner. Safety is given particular pride of place here: Corocord SafePlay stands for good quality in all components and without compromise. Whether it's the safety mast feet, the special ropes, their steel strands connected with the textile fibres through induction, the individually tailored "S" clamp connections made from stainless steel, or the internationally certified production procedures – at Corocord, quality is proverbially found in every detail.

By individual adjustment of the mesh sizes and the use of various strengths of play rope, an ideal solution is available for every age group. In the Bschütt Park, for example, the Rope Parkour is suitable for children aged 5 and over, whilst children and youngsters from the age of 8 years will particularly enjoy the wide mesh of the Giant Spacenet: only they have sufficient stamina and strength to also scale the peak of this imposing equipment unsupported.

New challenges must be faced. This applies to young climbing artistes as well as to engineers, architects and planners. In the new net playground in Passau, the innovative people responsible have created an attraction that will inspire both young and old and will certainly become well known far beyond the limits of this town in Lower Bavaria.
